What exactly is Gold Filled?
Gold filled is a modern, regulated material composed of a thick, substantial layer of solid 18k gold that has been permanently heat- and pressure-bonded to a high-quality jeweler's brass core. It is not to be confused with gold plating.
By law, gold filled must contain at least 5% (or 1/20th) solid gold by weight. To put that in perspective, this is over 100 times more real gold than is found on a standard plated piece, resulting in a far superior, more durable product
Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes. Because the entire outer surface of the jewelry is a thick layer of solid 18k gold, it is hypoallergenic and generally safe for almost everyone with sensitive skin or metal allergies.
